Why It's So Important For The Septic To Be Pumped On A Schedule

by Calvin Simmmons

If you have a septic system on your property, you will want to make sure that you are having the septic tank pumped out on a schedule. Depending on the size of the tank itself and how many people are living in your home, you might find that this may mean that you have to have it pumped every two years or even every four years. Do not let that slide though. Do not wait an extra year or even an extra six months to have the septic tank pumped. Here's why:

There Could Be Back Flow Into Your Home

One of the last things you ever want to have happen is to have sewage backing up into your home through the drains in the tubs, showers, and sinks. It is not only a stinky mess, but it is very toxic to everyone in the house. If you do not have the septic tank pumped often enough, it could get so full that it starts to clog up the drain pipe until you have waste and waste water pouring onto the floors of your home.

You Don't Want To Cause A Break In The Tank

You want to make sure that the septic tank is kept in the best possible condition. If you force the tank to hold more than it should, you could accidentally cause it to have some problems, like develop a crack in the walls of the tank. That would lead to a leak of septic waste water into the soil and that becomes an expensive mess to clean up. Also, you might then have the replace the entire septic tank, which can cost you several thousand dollars that you just might not have at the moment.

With a better understanding of why you are going to want to have the septic tank pumped on a schedule, you will want to go ahead and figure out when the next pumping needs to be. If you are not sure when the septic tank was last pumped out, maybe because you just bought the house, you should go ahead and schedule a septic system pumping right away. Once the tank is pumped, the contractor can conduct some septic system inspections to determine the condition of the tank and to let you know how often you should call them back out to your property in order to pump the tank again.

Preventing Plumbing Problems

It isn't always easy to know where to start when it comes to household maintenance, but a few years ago I realized I needed a new septic system. We were having a problem with our drains draining properly, so we turned to some experts for some help. They walked us through every aspect of the plumbing process, and within a few days, we were having a brand new septic tank installed. It was great to see just how much better things ran when the septic was working, and this blog is evidence of how much something like that can help.
